I’m brand new to video and have TONS to learn but I didn't want to wait any longer to start sharing. Thanks for bearing with me while I figure out this new world.
When it comes to schools, I can say I’ve been around the block a few times. Growing up, I attended 10 schools in 7 different countries. I then became an Elementary School teacher and taught hundreds of kids in New York, Boston, and Panama. Last year I quit teaching after realizing that much of what we do in schools no longer makes sense.
How did we conclude that the best way to prepare kids for the future is to cluster them into a setting where they are organized by age, into grades, and forced to learn the same things, at the same time and pace, 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 12+ years?
Our current school system operates under very old ideologies that should be up for questioning.
I don’t have neatly packed answers—I don’t think anyone does. What I have is a vision for the future of education that I want to share with you. I will mostly raise challenging questions and share the best of what I’ve learned. I’ll know I’m doing things right if you start thinking about education in a new way.
